The Flight

Today started off really well. Got a great workout in, then finished some work. From there I ran some final errands, washed up and got dressed in all the comfy clothes I could think of.....my yoga pants, and all the Nike Dri-Fit gear I had.

You might be wondering why Dri-Fit gear...well, it's light weight, keeps me cool, and in case I sweat, we all know it will probably happen! So far I am 17 hrs of travel time...not all in the plane.

I got to Dane county regional airport around one after being dropped off by Crystal. She took a half day to spend an hour or so with me before leaving. That really made my day and started my trip off well! When checking in my bags, as I checked in 24 hrs in advance to try and get as many exit rows as possible, I was informed that my flight from Madison was delay 1.5 hours and I would miss my Denver to LA connection and then my LA to Auckland connection.

I briefly panicked, then ask/told the gentleman helping me that this was going to work for me and asked if through them or a partner to reroute me to Chicago then to LA. He worked super fast and got me the last seat on a flight out of Madison to Chicago that was leaving in 10 min!!! I ran to security, and then quickly put my shoes and clothes back on after the screening and made it to my gate just in time for the flight.

I had a long layover in Chicago but was able to walk a bunch and drink about a gallon of water. If anyone saw me they would have probably thought I had a kidney problem or something because it felt like I was in the restroom more than in the terminal seating area:-)

I have met some really cool and interesting folks already and I am not even to Auckland.

The flight from LA to Auckland only has 4.5 hours left...not bad since I slept about 7 of the 12 hours. The meal to start was pretty good and filling. During dinner I watched Green Zone with Matt Damon....pretty good but not his best work. Definitely not Bourne status but still a good movie.

Can't wait to land and see Kirk and Audra!!
